Beach Bump Beauty | Maternity Session

It was quite unique the way Cora reached out to me to inquire about maternity photos. Many times my clients either email, DM me, or contact me through my website to inquire about photos. However Cora called me right up in person. I loved it, as it felt almost like we had been friends forever. It was very personable and instantly we had a connection and similar vision for her shoot.

I know that many people have been researching and discovering Kind Hearted Images all over again in these recent months as many search to support women-lead, black-owned, small/ local business, and black owned women businesses. Personally I’m still struggling with having my skin tone being the new lead for a business that I put so much work into for almost 10 years. I started at the young age of 20 with nothing but my little bank account, and some savings, and the support of my sister and mother.

Part of this pandemic has helped us to learn about all our struggles, challenges, goals, and the way we want our futures to look. I’ve learned a lot (within a short time) about pregnancy, birth, and the struggles that all women go through; but especially women of color. There’s a lot of fear connected with entering a hospital. Not knowing what can happen and how quickly things can change within a few moments. We take for granted the beauty and blessing in what it’s like to bring life into the world. When putting together the shoot for Cora I really wanted to highlight not just a beauty pregnancy, but the strength, the courage, the power women have. Just with holding a child in her stomach for nine months; protecting them even before they come on this earth wow. I hope that you see the beauty, and strength, and also the fragility in Cora pictures.

A strong black woman; yes, but yet she also needs the strong support system of her family. Black women are amazing. May we know them, love them, raise them, and always always support them.
