Love between the Trees and the Sea | Santa Cruz Coast Elopement

A sweet young boy walks up to “the princess” to show her his pet turtle. The awe moment is as he turn to leave with his mom he looks back and says: “You’re beautiful!”

My girl Steph called me about two day’s before J + K’s wedding. As they were boarding the plane to California; and I mean literally she was walking down the tarmac, she gets a call from her photographer informing them she has COVID and is cancelling her agreement to shoot their wedding. Which I mentioned at this point was in two days! So at this point her videographer Steph who is a great friend and colleague of mine, called me while the couple was in flight to see if I could shoot their wedding super last minute. To make a long story short, it worked out and I am super glad it did.

The ceremony was held under the stunning Redwoods up in Henry Cowell State Park. Thankfully, I have been to this park before for two other sessions for friends, and being there first thing in the morning with the crisp morning dew and seeing the sunshine through the trees as this couple exchanged their vows and said ‘I do’. What made this couple so special was their determination to not let anything ‘rain on their parade’, with their moms by their sides Steph and I witnessed some of the most endearing words of love and loyalty. See the beautiful ceremony location below and an extra stop we made at a local beach!

— Thank you for showing me I deserve happiness and am capable of it.
Water always symbolizes rebirth or a new start. Hearing this couples story, I knew we had to capture them near the ocean. Where they would forever remember the start of their journey together. In this of the grand ocean the world stood still for them.
